My workplace has had a lot of excitement lately. Wendy Reed, whose office is right next door to mine, won an Emmy, and Dwight Cammeron, whose office is just across the hall, won a first place festival award. The festival award came from the Urban Suburban Film Festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the documentary, “Not My Son.” This touching documentary by Dwight and our colleague Ginger Jolly has yet to make it to the airwaves, but it has been well received at festivals. The Southeastern Regional Emmy Awards were presented recently and I’m pleased to share that several of my friends won awards. Two of my colleagues at the University of Alabama, Wendy Reed and Roger Reid, won the Emmy for “Writer–Program (Non-News)” with the “Alabama in Space” episode of the Discovering Alabama series which is broadcast on Alabama Public Television. Several of my friends at Alabama Public Television also won awards. The network earned the coveted award in the “Live and Post-production Audio” category for We Have Signal, a music program recorded live at Birmingham’s BottleTree Café; in the “Non-News Program Editor” [...]
There’s a revolution going on that you may not even know about… It’s the Cigar Box Guitar Revolution and the movement wants everyone to get involved. It’s all about having fun, so you might get caught up in it through this one-hour documentary. It was shot several years ago at the annual Cigar Box Guitar Extravaganza in Huntsville, Alabama. This year’s Extravaganza will take place Saturday, June 26th.
The 7th Annual Tupelo Film Festival will begin on Thursday, May 13th with a workshop on how to finance your film followed by an outdoor screening of “God’s Architects,” a feature documentary directed by Zack Godshall. “God’s Architects” tells the stories of five divinely inspired artist-architects and their enigmatic creations.
