I have recently updated a web project I began 15 years ago. AlabamaInfo.com now has a slightly new look and is powered by WordPress, a blogging platform that can also be used as a content management system.
AlabamaInfo.com was one of my earliest efforts at building a website. It began as one page and grew from there. It is simply a directory of categorized web links, but it has been used by hundreds of visitors each day for years now.
This blog was my first experiment with WordPress. If you’ve visited here more than once over the past few months, you’ve probably noticed the look of this blog has changed as I have experimented with different WordPress themes. Once I got a handle on WordPress by playing with this site, I converted my site at MaxShores.com to WordPress. It turned out pretty well, so I moved on to AlabamaInfo.com.
AlabamaInfo.com, as well as other sites I’ve created, has always been a hobby more than anything else. Advertising on the site just helps pay for the web hosting. I don’t expect to get rich from the website. I just do it for fun and I enjoy answering the questions that people ask me about Alabama.
