Upcoming Alabama & Mississippi Music Events I Recommend

Despite his untimely death about a year ago, Willie King’s annual blues festival out in the woods will continue. Featured artists for Friday, May 28th include Kent Burnside (grandson of R. L. Burnside), Garry Burnside (son of R. L. Burnside), Venessia Young and the True Blues Express, and Little Jimmy Reed. Saturday May 29th’s schedule includes Jody Williams and Eddie Kirkland, plus Mudcat, Mississippi Nightingales, Elnora Spencer, Clarence Davis, and Jesse Daniels. This festival is in the rural setting of Old Memphis, Alabama:

This is a two day event in a big field in Potts Camp, Mississippi featuring non-stop music by artists from north Mississippi and the Memphis area. Regulars include the North Mississippi Allstars, Hill Country Revue, Bobby Rush, T-Model Ford, David Kimbrough (son of Junior Kimbrough), Duwayne Burnside (son of R. L. Burnside), Sharde Thomas (Otha Turner’s granddaughter) with the Rising Star Fife and Drum Band, Jimbo Mathus, Kenny Brown and lots more.
